Ian has lived in Stock for over 24 years with his wife Shirlee. Both his children Dean and Louisa were educated at schools in Stock and Billericay and enjoyed activities in local clubs.
First elected to Chelmsford Borough (now City) Council in 2003, he has served in the Cabinet and been responsible for the Safer Communities portfolio. This has included the modernisation of Chelmsford's car parks, the introduction of several Park and Rides and overseeing various capital projects including the new Civic Reception. He has enhanced services, reduced bureaucracy, and kept Council Tax rises low.
He regularly attends Parish Council meetings in Stock and Margaretting and substitute in South Hanningfield when Roy Whitehead is unavailable.
After many months campaigning he was delighted to see Common Road and the High Street resurfaced and approval given for a new pedestrian crossing and traffic island in Margaretting. He will continue to support the green belt, traffic issues and working with the Parish Councils to maintain all that is good in village life.
