The Marconi ward is in the centre of the Borough. It stretches from the railway just north of the police station up to Melbourne Avenue and includes the University, Rainsford Road and the Boarded Barns area.

It has a population of 7,401 (as at the 2011 Census) and is represented by two Councillors, none of which are Conservative.
